Pakistan booked their place in the Super Eights stage of the T20 World Cup at the expense of Bangladesh this evening.
The Greens were set a victory target of 176 runs for victory in Pallekele - a challenge that they successfully negotiated with eight balls remaining.
Openers Imran Nazir (72) and Mohammad Hafeez (45) set Pakistan on their way as they produced a partnership worth over 100 runs.
However, the pair were not at the crease when the winning runs were struck as both fell victim to the bowling of Shakib Al Hasan in quick succession.
It was left to Kamran Akmal and Nasir Jamshed to get the Pakistanis over the victory line with eight wickets in hand.
They will now face Australia, India and South Africa for a place in the semi-finals.
