England batsman Ian Bell will miss Warwickshire's Royal London Cup final with Durham at Lord's on Saturday as he battles a broken toe and a bout of tonsillitis.

England batsman Ian Bell has been ruled out of Warwickshire's Royal London Cup final with Durham on Saturday.

Bell had been a doubt for the conclusion of the 50-over competition after breaking his toe in the middle of England's one-day international series against India.

His foot is still a cause for concern, but it is a bout of tonsillitis that has ended the 32-year-old's Lord's hopes.

Warwickshire director of cricket Dougie Brown told the club's website: "Ian has been receiving intense treatment on his broken toe for several days, in hope that he could be fit for Lord's. However, he is still several days away from regaining full fitness, and his bout of tonsillitis has made playing on Saturday impossible.

"Whilst we're disappointed for Ian and it's unfortunate to lose a player of his ability, we have put in some strong performances in limited overs cricket this season; claiming our first NatWest T20 Blast title and progressing to the Royal London One-Day Cup Final on Saturday. We're all very excited about the challenge ahead."

Warwickshire will be looking to complete a domestic cup double after winning the T20 Blast in August.
