North Group leaders the Birmingham Bears recorded their eighth win in 10 Natwest T20 Blast games with an eight-run victory over the Leicestershire Foxes this afternoon.
Birmingham won the toss at Grace Road and chose to bat, but they struggled to build any serious partnerships.
Brendon McCullum set a new T20 Blast record in the Bears' last match with 158 runs - also the second-highest T20 score ever - but he couldn't make a decent impact on the scoreboard today as he made just six before being sent back to the pavilion.
Rikki Clarke produced the best innings for the visitors with 46 off 36 balls as the Bears reached 160-8 from their 20 overs.
Foxes captain Mark Cosgrove led from the front for his side, but his 74 from 56 balls wasn't enough for Leicestershire as they fell away in the closing stages.
Cosgrove was run out in the final over and his teammates couldn't blast the hosts over the line as they fell eight runs short.
