MS Dhoni played the crucial innings late on to guide the Chennai Super Kings to a four-wicket win over the Mumbai Indians on Saturday.
Mumbai were asked to bat first, and they got off to a steady start thanks to a run-a-ball 38 from Lendl Simmons, who combined well with Ambati Rayudu.
Rayudu proved to be the top scorer for Mumbai as he cleared the rope four times on his way to 59 from 43 balls, but a good spell of 3-30 from Ravichandran Ashwin restricted the batting side to 157-6 from their 20 overs.
Dwayne Smith got the Chennai innings off to a good start as the opener scored 57 from 51 balls for his side, who looked like they would cruise to victory at one stage in the innings.
However, Lasith Malinga ensured that Mumbai were still in with a chance in the closing stages of the match by taking 2-15, including the key wicket of Faf du Plessis (31).
Dhoni (22*) displayed his experience in the final over with successive boundaries to secure victory for Chennai.
