The Chennai Super Kings recorded a five-wicket Indian Premier League victory over the Rajasthan Royals in Ranchi this afternoon.
The Royals won the toss and elected to bat first, with their openers Ankit Sharma (30) and Shane Watson (51) giving them an early foothold on proceedings.
Once they were dismissed, though, the remainder of the batting lineup struggled to make an impact. Only Stuart Binny, who scored 22, reached double figures before he was caught by Faf du Plessis.
In reply, Dwayne Smith hit two sixes on his way to scoring 44 for the Super Kings, but like the Royals before them, they lost wickets at regular intervals.
However, Du Plessis steadied the innings with a knock of 38, before MS Dhoni (26*) and Ravindra Jadeja (11*) guided the Super Kings to victory with two deliverers to spare.
The win has moved CSK up to second, while RR are now in third spot.
