Paul Collingwood hoping to prolong Durham stay by further year

Paul Collingwood admits that he is "really enjoying" his cricket, which could see him extend his stay at Durham by a further year.

Former England one-day skipper Paul Collingwood has revealed that he has no intention of calling time on his career.

Despite turning 40 next year, Collingwood is in talks with Durham over extending his contract beyond the end of the 2015 county season.

Having been an ever-present for John Lewis's side so far this term, the four-day captain is now looking to prolong his playing days.

"I'm really enjoying my cricket and the dressing room, still. I'm fit enough - I think - to get through another year," he told BBC Sport.

"I want to keep taking this club forward and it's important we build the right culture here for years to come and bring the youngsters through.

"There are still things I want to achieve, and winning things for Durham so it'd be silly to hang my boots up when I'm still enjoying it."

Collingwood has previously suggested that this would be his final season with the county, 19 years after making his first-class bow.
