Elsewhere, Lancashire came up just short of a remarkable chase despite record team and individual scores.

Cameron Bancroft’s second unbeaten hundred in as many matches led Durham to a six-wicket win over Leicestershire in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

The Foxes rebuilt from 112 for seven to reach 233 for nine, with Tom Taylor (59) and Dieter Klein (46) putting on 81, but Bancroft’s 188 not out ensured a comfortable home win in the North Group.

Lancashire came up just short of a remarkable chase despite record team and individual scores for the county as Nottinghamshire held on for an 11-run win.

Joe Clarke’s 139 and quick runs from Tom Moores (74 off 39 balls) and Luke Fletcher (46no off 17) took Notts to 417 for seven.

Stephen Croft hit 110 and Dane Vilas an extraordinary 166 off 100 balls to give the Red Rose hope, but James Pattinson took five for 61 including the wicket of Vilas to leave them 406 for nine.

Warwickshire and Yorkshire shared a thrilling tie at Edgbaston.

Tim Ambrose top-scored with 77 in the hosts’ 270 for eight and Yorkshire then slumped to 89 for five, but Jonny Tattersall (79) and Tim Bresnan (89) kept them in contention.

Captain Steven Patterson hit two late boundaries and they scrambled byes off the final two balls to reach 270 for nine.

Alex Hughes took a career-best four for 44 as Derbyshire beat Northamptonshire by 53 runs. Captain Billy Godleman made 87 in Derbyshire’s 268 for six.

Craig Overton produced career-best one-day performances with bat and ball while Tom Banton hit a maiden hundred as Somerset hammered Kent by 264 runs in the South Group.

Banton’s 107 off 79 balls underpinned a Somerset innings which was powered to 358 for nine by Overton’s unbeaten 66 from just 36 balls.

The sometime England seamer then took five for 18 in seven overs as the visitors were skittled for 94 in reply.

Tom Alsop’s unbeaten century saw Hampshire to a comfortable seven-wicket win over Glamorgan with more than eight overs to spare.

The opener finished 130no from 115 balls and captain James Vince hit 95 from 78 as the hosts easily chased down Glamorgan’s 292 for nine, which featured 68 apiece from David Lloyd and Graeme Wagg.

Dawid Malan and Nathan Sowter led Middlesex to a 38-run win over Essex.

Malan was run out five short of his century and George Scott battered 63 off 30 balls in Middlesex’s 366 for eight, before Sowter took six for 62 to bowl Essex out for 328 despite Varun Chopra’s 127.

David Wiese was Sussex’s hero as they beat Surrey by two wickets in the day’s late game.

Surrey made 274 for nine, Ben Foakes top-scoring with 64 while Mir Hamza took four for 43, but Wiese added 92no to Luke Wright’s 69 as Sussex won with 11 balls to spare despite Tom Curran’s three for 37.
