Durham win the Royal London One-Day Cup as they record a three-wicket victory over Warwickshire in the final at Lord's.

Durham recorded victory in the Royal London One-Day Cup final by defeating Warwickshire by three wickets at Lord's.

Mark Stoneman won the toss and elected to bowl on an overcast morning in the capital, and his decision proved to be a good one as Chris Rushworth picked up the wicket of Will Porterfield in the fifth over.

The North East side bowled a tight line to restrict Varun Chopra's men in the early stages, and that forced the wicket of Jonathan Trott as he played across the line to a Paul Collingwood delivery and was out lbw for two.

Collingwood soon added the scalp of Tim Ambrose, while England all-rounder Ben Stokes put Warwickshire on the back foot as he removed Laurie Evans and Rikki Clarke to leave the score at 68-5.

Chris Woakes and Chopra offered resistance to move their side over the 100-run mark, but Gareth Breese came into the attack and dismissed Woakes, while Chopra fell to Rushworth for 64.

Wickets kept tumbling for Warwickshire and their innings ended dismally when Boyd Rankin was run out for one by Scott Borthwick to leave Durham 166 runs to win.

Stoneman's side got off to a tricky start when Phil Mustard and Calum MacLeod were dismissed to leave them 12-2. However, the captain steadied the ship with a half-century to move them over the 50-run mark.

A clatter of wickets nearly caused a panic but a solid innings of 21 from Collingwood put Durham within sight of victory.

Stokes continued his fine day as scored 38 runs to all-but secure the win, but it was Breese who hit the winning runs with a cut for four to seal his side's victory in his last match for the club.
