Alastair Cook says that James Anderson if fit for England to face Australia in the second Ashes Test at Lord's.

England bowler James Anderson has been declared fit for the second Ashes Test against Australia on Thursday, despite his exhaustive efforts in the opening match of the series.

The 30-year-old took 10 wickets in the first encounter of The Ashes last week, including the decisive one of Brad Haddin, as the Three Lions earned a 14-run victory over the travellers at Trent Bridge to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Some had feared for the fitness of the seamer heading into the follow-up Test after his exertions in Nottingham, but captain Alastair Cook revealed that Anderson is ready to go at Lord's.

"James Anderson was sore the day after the game, but he seems OK now," Cook told BBC Sport.

"We have a great medical team, and he will be fine come Thursday."

The second Test gets underway at Lord's from 11am today.
