Steven Finn: 'We won't underestimate Australia'

England bowler Steven Finn says that his side will have to play their "very best cricket" to defeat Australia.

Steven Finn has insisted that England will not take Australia lightly during the upcoming Ashes series between the two nations.

Hosting England are the favourites to retain the urn with the bookmakers, while some pundits have backed Alastair Cook's men to record a 5-0 whitewash over their bitterest rivals.

However, pace-bowler Finn, who was speaking to Sports Mole in his role as an ambassador for ESPN Classic's Ashes coverage, has admitted that England will have to be at their "very best" to defeat the tourists.

"We respect the Australians, but we know if we play our very best cricket, we are capable of winning this Ashes series and that is what we have to focus on," said the 24-year-old.

"By no means can you write off the Australians. They are a very talented bunch of cricketers and have some highly-skilled players. They are going to be dangerous. As I say, we respect them, but if we are the top of our game, we can win."

ESPN Classic will broadcast extensive Ashes programming every weeknight throughout July, celebrating one of the fiercest rivalries in international sport. Visit espnclassic.com for details.
