Nasser Hussain: 'England deserve their success'

Nasser Hussain hails the performance of England in their impending Ashes series win over Australia, but feels that they have to improve in less beneficial conditions.

Nasser Hussain has praised England for their impending Ashes victory over Australia, but has warned them that they still need to improve to become the number one team in the world.

The Three Lions reduced Australia to 241-7 in their second innings at Trent Bridge thanks to a five-wicket haul from Ben Stokes, leaving Alastair Cook's men on the brink of regaining the urn.

However, Hussain believes that England have to improve in conditions that are not beneficial towards their seam bowlers to claim the top spot in Test cricket.

He wrote in the Daily Mail: "The team deserve to enjoy this success because it has been a terrific effort, but the challenge now is how to take it on further, and try to regain the number one position in the world.

"Just as Australia need to look at how they play in the kind of conditions we have seen at Edgbaston and Trent Bridge, England must be relentless in trying to improve on wickets that are less conducive to their players."

England are currently ranked sixth in the world in Test cricket.
