England may struggle to replace the injured James Anderson for the fourth Ashes Test against Australia, according to Glenn McGrath.

Glenn McGrath has admitted that he is unsure how England will fare without James Anderson in the fourth Ashes Test this week.

England's senior bowler has been ruled out of the match at Trent Bridge with a side strain, and ex-Australia man McGrath believes that they could struggle.

He told The Telegraph: "It is tough, especially when it is someone like Jimmy. When he has done well, often England have won the game. Trent Bridge is his best ground and he is a key within the English lineup.

"It gives an opportunity to another bowler to really perform well. They go one or two ways. They either struggle because they don't have the leader of the bowling attack, which puts more pressure on someone else, or the replacement comes out of Jimmy's shadow to make a name for themselves. It is 50-50."

Mark Wood is expected to replace Anderson in Nottingham.
