Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell believes that England will see an improved James Taylor if he is selected for the third Ashes Test against Australia.
The batsman could be brought into the England side if Kevin Pietersen fails to recover from a calf strain in time.
Taylor, who made two Test appearances against South Africa last summer, will face Australia for Sussex in a three-day match this week.
"He's certainly been in good form for us all season in all forms of the game," Newell told Sky Sports News.
"The message from England was 'go away, score more runs in county cricket and we will pick you again'. James has done that and he deserves this opportunity.
"I think he will look to score more quickly than he did last year when he was picked, particularly off the back foot. He's a good cutter and a good puller of the ball and also a good player of spin."
The third Ashes Test begins at Old Trafford next Thursday.
