Matt Prior: 'England have Australia vengeance'

Matt Prior says that England are not scared of Australia's bowlers and will take to Adelaide with a "vengeance" ahead of the second Ashes Test.

Matt Prior has warned Australia that England will take to the second Test of the Ashes with a "vengeance" in Adelaide.

The Three Lions were comfortably beaten by 381 runs in the first Test in Brisbane, and the media talk has since been dominated by heated rows that resulted in Michael Clarke being hit with a fine for "using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an international match".

Shane Warne also claimed that James Anderson is guilty of abusing George Bailey, but Prior insists that England will do their talking on the field.

"We have time to turn it around," Prior told The Telegraph. "We have four Test matches to go at grounds where we have had a lot of success in the past. One bad game does not mean you are a bad team. We have got a very good cricket team with good players.

"The stats back that up and it is not just someone clinging to hope. Look at the records in black and white and you will see there are some serious players in this side and it is hard to keep those kind of guys down. I am sure we will be back with a vengeance. The suggestion we are scared of fast bowling is just plain wrong. We have played against quick bowlers before and had success against them. Fair play to Mitchell Johnson, he had a good game at the Gabba.

"Sometimes you just have to acknowledge and accept that an opponent has performed. But it was not just one bowler. We lost wickets to the spinner as well, myself twice. That shows we cannot just focus on one guy because bowlers such as Peter Siddle and Ryan Harris deserve respect and if we just concentrated on playing Johnson, the others would bite us. We will be very well prepared to face all of them in Adelaide."

The second Test in Adelaide gets underway on December 5.
