Stuart Broad admits that England were "pretty happy" with their work on day three of the third Test against India.

Stuart Broad has revealed that England were happy with the progress they made on day three of the third Test against India at the Ageas Bowl.

England took seven wickets on a pitch that was yet to cause many problems for batsmen, and reducing India to 323-8 at stumps means that the hosts, who lead by 246 runs, hold the advantage ahead of the final six sessions.

"Obviously we set it up with the bat and had a huge amount of scoreboard pressure which always helps because if you bowl a slightly fuller ball that gets driven for four, you've got so many runs on the board to go again," Broad told Sky Sports News.

"Eight wickets, we're pretty happy with. We'd have loved to have bowled them out today out to give ourselves a bit of a rest tomorrow, but I think it's still a really good batting wicket.

"Hopefully, from our point of view, it'll deteriorate over the next two days and certainly day five maybe offer a bit down towards the stumps."

England trail India 1-0 in the five-match series.
