England ahead despite Cook dismissal

England lead India by 65 runs despite losing both Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott during the afternoon session of day three of the third Test match in Kolkata.

England began the afternoon session on 296-1 with Cook and Trott eyeing a double century and century respectively.

Both players continued to look comfortable at the crease and guided England past India's total of 316.

However, six overs later, India finally had their first breakthrough of the day when Trott edged a Pragyan Ojha delivery to MS Dhoni for 87.

That dismissal brought Kevin Pietersen to the fray to try to support Cook in his quest to reach 200.

The England skipper looked to be easing to the milestone before he was dismissed for 190 in bizarre circumstances when he was run out after failing to ground his bat when trying to avoid being struck by Virat Kohli's throw.

A Pietersen six straight down the ground restored calm to the England's innings as they reached tea on 381-3 and they will be look to build a considerable lead over their hosts before the close of play.
