India declare on 521-8 on the second day of the first Test against England, leaving the visitors with a big target to reach in their innings.

India have declared on 521-8 in Ahmedabad on the second day of the first Test against England following a dominant period at the crease.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Pragyan Ojha have taken the decision to bowl at the visitors after the hosts racked up their run total of over 500 courtesy of a double century by Pujara after an impressive innings.

The morning started off well for India and they remained in control as England could only claim two wickets before the evening session, with Graeme Swann completing a five-wicket haul by dismissing MS Dhoni for five.

England's efforts were summed up when captain Alastair Cook committed a drop-catch, which would have seen off Ravichandran Ashwin, just before tea.

The tourists managed to step up in the evening session and Kevin Pietersen and James Anderson, who was the only pace bowler to dismiss an opponent, claimed a wicket apiece in quick succession but England will be hoping to start strongly at the crease as they switch to bat for the remainder of the day.
