The maiden season of The Hundred is just around the corner, as a plethora of British and overseas talent prepare to battle it out in the new 100-ball tournament, set to take place from July 21 to August 21.

Eight men's and women's teams comprised of household names and international powerhouses will do battle in The Hundred, a competition designed to inspire the next generation and motivate those who may be the stars of tomorrow, as well as attracting a wider audience to the sport.

A total of 18 games will be shown free-to-air on the BBC, and at the forefront of the coverage will be ex-England cricketer Isa Guha - a 2009 World Cup winner turned cricket broadcaster and presenter - who is setting out to get fans in favour of the somewhat controversial Hundred.

Former fast-medium bowler Guha is a staunch supporter of the new competition, but it has not been welcomed with open arms from all quarters of the cricket fanbase, many of whom have questioned the necessity of The Hundred while the Vitality Blast remains such a popular tournament.

From her pre-tournament predictions to the importance of The Hundred for the women's side of the game, Guha speaks to Sports Mole about the inaugural tournament and what fans can expect from the 100-ball format.

The Hundred will be on BBC Two, radio and online from Wednesday 21 July
