James Anderson, who made a record-breaking 81 in England's first-innings of the first Test against India, says that he enjoyed his time at the crease.

James Anderson has admitted that his record-breaking stand of 81 on the third day of the first Test against India was "probably the first time" he has enjoyed batting.

The England number 11 shared a Test-record 10th-wicket stand of 198 with Joe Root (154 not out) to help the hosts to a first-innings total of 496 at Trent Bridge.

At the close of play, Anderson told Sky Sports that it was a great experience.

He said: "I had really good fun today. It's probably the first time I've really enjoyed batting. It was a great effort. We just seemed to get on a roll last night, and I think overnight we both just thought that we could actually annoy the Indians today and stay out there a little bit.

"Obviously we didn't think anything like this could happen. We knew we still had a job to do this morning and we stuck at it brilliantly.

"It was good fun being out there. I wouldn't say it was easy but it was such a slow pitch that you knew there was only a few ways you could get out. If you had a good game plan you could stick in there."

England managed to pick up the wickets of Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara as India closed day three on 167-3.
