James Anderson says that England's players will "respect" the ECB's decision on Kevin Pietersen's future.

James Anderson has revealed that England's players will accept the ECB's ruling on Kevin Pietersen's future, whatever decision they come to.

The 32-year-old batsman is currently in talks with ECB management about a potential return after missing the final part of South Africa's visit this summer.

Pietersen famously sent text messages to his friends among the Proteas players, where he commented on his England teammates. He was subsequently dropped by then captain Andrew Strauss and has not featured in any form of international cricket since.

The postponement of the announcement of England's squad to tour India in the winter has resulted in reports claiming that Pietersen could be nearing reconciliation with the ECB.

Amid these rumours, Anderson has said that it is not up to the players to decide Pietersen's fate, and that they will "respect" the ECB's decision on the matter.

He told BBC Sport: "The way things are at the moment, there are talks on going with the ECB and Kevin and all the players can do it respect the decision the ECB comes to."

Anderson was among the 16-man party that left for Sri Lanka today ahead of the Twenty20 World Cup, which begins next week.
