Stuart Broad has urged England's batsman to improve their performances in the second innings of the first Test against Pakistan.

The tourists will need to claim three more Pakistan wickets before going back in to bat, where they will be looking to improve on the 196 runs they scored in their opening innings.

Speaking at the close of play on day two, Broad told Sky Sports News: "I think we earned those wickets later on in the day. Last night there were a few batters who were being negative but it was important today to be positive.

"More importantly we need to come out and finish the tail-end off tomorrow.

"Hopefully the boys will learn from our mistakes and bat big in the second innings."

Pakistan ended the second day 96 runs ahead.
