Durham captain Paul Collingwood has said that England would have to come up with a "ridiculous" offer to prise him away from his county duties.
The ECB is currently on the search for a successor to Peter Moores, with Collingwood being mooted as a potential home-grown alternative to leading candidate Jason Gillespie.
Collingwood was part of Scotland's coaching team for the World Cup earlier this year, but he was coy about the prospect of returning to the international arena.
"It would have to be a ridiculous offer, something I couldn't turn down," he told The Independent.
"If I keep taking wickets and scoring runs and keep enjoying it and bringing some good youngsters through here at Durham, it is going to be a hard thing to give up."
Collingwood scored 4,259 runs in 68 Tests for England, in addition to captaining the one-day side from 2007 to 2008.
