Alastair Cook is confirmed as England's captain for the 2015 World Cup in a 30-man provisional squad which includes Yorkshire pair Jack Brooks and Adil Rashid.

Alastair Cook has been confirmed as England's captain for the 2015 World Cup in a 30-man provisional squad named on Saturday.

The 29-year-old has survived questions over his future following series defeats to Sri Lanka and India, and a loss of his own form at the top of the order.

Yorkshire seamer Jack Brooks, Hampshire batsman James Vince and Surrey opener Jason Roy are three uncapped players included.

Luke Wright, wicketkeeper Craig Kieswetter and leg-spinning all-rounder Adil Rashid, whose last appearance came in 2009, all return to the international fold.

However, there is no recall for Jonathan Trott, who finished last season strongly with Warwickshire, but has not featured for England since leaving Australia last winter with a stress-related illness.

The squad will be reduced to 15 for the tournament in Australia and New Zealand, which takes place in February and March.

England's 30-man squad for the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup:

Alastair Cook (Essex) (Capt), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), James Anderson (Lancashire), Jonathan Bairstow (Yorkshire), Gary Ballance (Yorkshire), Ian Bell (Warwickshire), Ravi Bopara (Essex), Tim Bresnan (Yorkshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Jack Brooks (Yorkshire), Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Steven Finn (Middlesex), Harry Gurney (Nottinghamshire), Alex Hales (Nottinghamshire), Chris Jordan (Sussex), Craig Kieswetter (Somerset), Eoin Morgan (Middlesex), Stephen Parry (Lancashire), Samit Patel (Nottinghamshire), Liam Plunkett (Yorkshire), Boyd Rankin (Warwickshire), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Jason Roy (Surrey), Ben Stokes (Durham), James Taylor (Nottinghamshire), James Tredwell (Kent), James Vince (Hampshire), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire), Luke Wright (Sussex)
