Alastair Cook has admitted that England missed Stuart Broad and Steven Finn in the five-wicket defeat to New Zealand at Lord's.
It was announced before yesterday's match that injury has ruled the seamers out for the first two one-day internationals against the touring Kiwis.
The skipper believes that Broad and Finn are integral to the Three Lions' attack, but said that the pair are in good hands.
"They are key parts of our full-strength one-day team and they are world-class bowlers," Sky Sports News quotes Cook as saying. "They are quite hard boots to fill, the guys coming in haven't got that experience.
"Clearly, it's not ideal, but we've got a good medical team and fingers crossed."
The second ODI takes place at the Ageas Bowl tomorrow.
