England captain Alastair Cook laments his side's poor performance in the defeat in the third Test against West Indies as their series ended in a 1-1 draw.

England captain Alastair Cook has expressed his disappointment with his side after they failed to defeat the West Indies in their three-match Test series.

The Three Lions suffered a five-wicket defeat to Denesh Ramdin's side inside three days in the third Test in Bridgetown as the home team chased down their victory target of 192 thanks to an innings of 82 from Darren Bravo.

The result ensured that the West Indies tied the series at 1-1, leaving Cook to rue his side's poor batting display on day two as the reason for their downfall.

Cook told Sky Sports News: "We came here after Grenada with the opportunity to do it, played a lot of good cricket in the first day and a half. It's a bit of both, 250 wasn't enough, probably 300 was par, and then obviously 120 was disappointing.

"We have to take it on the chin, credit to West Indies, they bowled well and put us under pressure. When you're defending 190 you need to take your chances, even 80 for 4 we had them under pressure. The bottom line is we haven't done enough to win the series.

"Every series we play we try to win, we'll take it on the chin. The support we've had in Antigua, Grenada and Barbados has been fantastic. I can't fault the lads but the last 120 overs we weren't good enough. The squad will talk about things but we need to go and deliver."

England are next in action against New Zealand for their Test series at home later this month.
