England 50-over captain Alastair Cook wants to play Twenty20 cricket for his country.
The Essex batsman has been overlooked in the shortest format of the game so far, but after a successful spell in charge of the 50-over game is desperate for a chance to impress in two matches against the West Indies next week.
"It's another step out of my comfort zone, a lot more hard work," he said.
"But I've scored runs for Essex in Twenty20, and if I get the chance to play Twenty20 [for England] I hope I can show that again.
"I've always said I want to play all three formats of the game.”
Cook was yesterday pipped to the ICC Cricketer of the Year award by England colleague Jonathan Trott.
