Steven Finn has insisted that he is ready to take the place of Stuart Broad in the England bowling attack.
Broad has been ruled out of the second Test match against Sri Lanka with a calf strain.
As a result, Finn is believed to be in straight competition with Tim Bresnan for a place in the starting lineup.
"Obviously we don't know who is going to play but if I do get my opportunity I feel as though I am ready to take it," Finn told Sky Sports News.
"It is obviously going to be testing conditions out here for seam bowlers but that is the way it goes.
"I personally like challenges and if I am given the nod in this game I will be looking to try and win my place back."
Finn has taken 50 wickets in 12 Tests for England.
