Hales: 'Anyone can win Twenty20 World Cup'

England opening batsman Alex Hales insists that they can win the Twenty20 World Cup in Bangladesh, as the nature of the tournament makes it wide open.

Alex Hales has insisted that England have a chance to win the Twenty20 World Cup because he feels that the tournament in Bangladesh is wide open.

The Nottinghamshire batsman is expected to open for England when they begin their campaign against New Zealand in Chittagong on Saturday.

Before that, Stuart Broad's side play the West Indies in a warm-up match on Tuesday, and Hales believes that England's recent series against the reigning champions, which they lost 2-1, has prepared them well for the main event.

"We couldn't have asked for better preparation, playing against the World T20 champions on wickets that were fairly spin friendly and replicate what we will face out here in Bangladesh," he told reporters.

"Coming into the competition with a win under our belts in the last game [means] everyone is confident and looking forward to it.

"A lot of T20 is based around momentum and, if you can get a couple of early wins, I still believe anyone can win this World Cup."

Hales has an average of 34.34 with the bat in his 27 international Twenty20 matches.
