England batsman Alex Hales has signed on to play in Australia's Big Bash Twenty20 competition with the Melbourne Renegades.
The 24-year-old received the call-up following his performances for England in their recent two-match series against India.
"The contact came out of the blue, but it's a great opportunity to join a team who are flying in the competition," Hales told Nottinghamshire's website.
"I've played a lot of cricket recently and I feel in good nick so hopefully I can make a difference."
Hales is expected to make his debut for the Renegades during tomorrow's final group encounter.
He has replaced West Indian all-rounder Marlon Samuels, who has suffered an eye injury.
