Middlesex bowler James Harris wants to follow in the footsteps of Joe Root by representing England at full international level.
Harris has played for the England Lions for the past year but has yet to make the breakthrough into the full national side.
Harris told BBC Sport: "I have made no bones about that fact that I want to play cricket for England and that is what I am aiming for and working hard for every day.
"My former Lions teammate Joe Root is a prime example of how things can change quickly and proves what can be achieved with hard work. Joe is a fantastic player and I played alongside him with the Lions.
"We have been on a couple of tours together and his emergence at international level just spurs you on and makes you realise how close you are to an England call-up."
The 23-year-old has 16 wickets in five County Championship matches this season.
