Mike Hesson: 'Ball-tampering accusations not an issue'

New Zealand coach Mike Hesson says that accusations of ball-tampering against England will not be issue in their match tomorrow.

Mike Hesson has insisted that accusations of ball-tampering against England are "not an issue" ahead of New Zealand's ICC Champions Trophy match against them tomorrow.

The umpires had to change the ball while England were fielding during their match with Sri Lanka earlier this week, with former captain Bob Willis claiming that one player had deliberately damaged it.

The Black Caps' coach told Sky Sports News: "I've got no idea how they achieve reverse-swing and that's not my responsibility. The umpires are there to do a job, and if they think something is done out of the ordinary, then they will deal with it.

"If they think the ball has gone out of shape or something has happened to the ball, they will change it and I'm sure they will continue to do so. It's certainly not an issue as far as I'm concerned.

"We played them in New Zealand and there were very abrasive surfaces, and there was always going to be an element of reverse. Most international bowlers are pretty adept at getting the ball to move off the straight and that's a big part of their skill."

England captain Alastair Cook and limited-overs coach Ashley Giles have both denied the allegations.
