England and Lancashire bowler James Anderson is on his way to hospital with a thumb injury.

England bowler James Anderson has been taken to hospital with a thumb injury.

The 29-year-old suffered the problem during Lancashire's County Championship match against Nottinghamshire this afternoon.

Up until that point, Anderson had bowled 10 overs as he warmed up for England's upcoming Test series against the West Indies later this month.

However, his participation in that series may now be in doubt as he awaits the results of a scan.
