Jason Roy pays tribute to the bowlers after his quickfire 78 helped England ease to victory over New Zealand in the semi-finals of the World Twenty20 in India.

England's star batsman of the World Twenty20 semi-final win over New Zealand, Jason Roy, has paid tribute to the bowlers' work in Delhi.

Roy scored 78 off just 44 balls at the top of England's innings as they easily chased down New Zealand's total of 153 to book their place in the final in India.

New Zealand were on course for a score around the 180 mark having scored 89 in their first 10 overs, but the combination of Chris Jordan and Ben Stokes helped restrict the Black Caps' total.

"I think we bowled really well," Roy said after the match. "They have a hugely dangerous lineup and I just went out and tried to get the team off to a good start and it came off for me tonight.

"I just felt it was a chance to go out and get us off to great start. It was one of those totals that can be dangerous, I gave it a crack and it came off.

"I just looked for the runs that we needed and knocked them off. If you think about it (being in a semi-final) then it can be to your detriment."

Roy's 78 easily beat his previous best of 43 in a T20 international.

England will face the winner of tomorrow's semi between India and West Indies in the final on Sunday.
