Keaton Jennings says that scoring a century on his England Test debut feels "surreal" following an impressive innings on day one of the fourth Test against India.

Keaton Jennings has described scoring a century on his England Test debut as "surreal".

The 24-year-old, who brought up the hundred with a reverse sweep, hit a knock of 112 off 219 deliveries on the first day of the fourth Test against India.

Jennings received a late call-up to the squad due to Haseeb Hameed's injury, and went straight to the top of the order alongside captain Alastair Cook.

"It's been an incredible six to eight months, and an even more incredible 72 hours, flying over from Dubai. It's been surreal," Jennings told Sky Sports News. "There was a little bit of panic at five o'clock this morning when I woke up and thought I'd missed the bus.

"It was awesome. It was really special, and really special to do it in a place like India. The passion they have for the game and the culture is incredible.

"You never really know how you'll react under pressure. Thankfully I've come in and done well straightaway. We'll over find out how successful you can be over a long period of time. The biggest adjustment was to the crowd and the noise. Cookie was brilliant with me - he really calmed me down."

England reached stumps on 288-5 in Mumbai.
