Craig Kieswetter has backed teammate Kevin Pietersen to rediscover his form ahead of the one-day international series against Pakistan.

Pietersen will open the batting for England as Kieswetter begins a new role in the middle order.

The wicketkeeper believes that Pietersen will benefit from the change and that the team will begin to see the results.

"Kevin is a fantastic cricketer. The more opportunity we give him to bat for a long time and face a lot of balls, the better," he said.

"We're hoping he can play like the old KP and set up platforms for the side to build great scores."

Kieswetter is expected to bat at number five during the series.
