Peter Moores "comfortable" with Alastair Cook captaincy decision

England coach Peter Moores insists that it was the right decision to strip Alastair Cook of the ODI captaincy so close to the World Cup.

England coach Peter Moores has insisted that he is "comfortable" with the decision to strip Alastair Cook of the one-day international captaincy just months before the World Cup.

Cook, who has been left out of the World Cup squad, was replaced as skipper by Eoin Morgan last month following a disappointing run of form with the bat.

Despite such a significant change within the setup, Moores believes that England are capable of winning the tournament without Cook.

"Plans are there to be changed at times," he is quoted as saying by the England and Wales Cricket Board's official website. "We got to a position where it felt like it was the right thing to do. It was a braver decision I think to change it (than not).

"It felt like it was the right decision to move and so we moved as a set of selectors, so I'm comfortable with that and I think we've got the right people on the plane. We've got to go there with a strong focus, one to perform well as a team but really we're going to try to win the World Cup."

England will fly out to Australia later today for a tri-series tournament against the Aussies and India.
