Eoin Morgan: 'England pushed self-destruct button in Australia defeat'

England skipper Eoin Morgan says that he is "happy with the series as a whole" on the back of his side's heavy defeat against Australia in the Tri-series final.

Eoin Morgan has conceded that England have only themselves to blame following this afternoon's heavy Tri-series final defeat against Australia.

The tourists fell to a 112-run defeat at the WACA in what was their final competitive match before the World Cup.

Mitchell Johnson took 3-27 on his return to international cricket, although Morgan has insisted that it was his team's own shortcomings that proved costly in the end.

"I don't think he was the biggest threat," Morgan said of Johnson in a post-match press conference. "We were. We pushed the self-destruct button."

Having beaten India earlier this week to reach the final, there were at least some positives for skipper Morgan to take away.

"I am happy with this series as a whole," he added. "Apart from today's game we've made big inroads, and getting to the final was an achievement in itself."

The two sides next meet on February 14, in the group stage of the World Cup.
