New Zealand end day three of the third Test in a strong position over England despite a late falter.

New Zealand ended day three of the third Test in Auckland in a strong position after bowling England out for 204 runs in their first innings.

Trent Boult ran through the Three Lions' batting lineup as he took six wickets for just 68 runs.

The only resistance came from Matt Prior, who scored 73 before he was caught at point, and Joe Root who made 45 before he was bowled by Tim Southee.

Alastair Cook's side were short of the follow-on target but this was not enforced by Kiwis skipper Brendon McCullum.

New Zealand's second innings got off to a poor start as Hamish Rutherford was out in the second over to Stuart Broad. Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor soon followed, leaving the Kiwis reeling at 8-3.

Peter Fulton and Dean Brownlie stabilised the innings as New Zealand ended the day on 35-3, 274 runs ahead of England.
