Martin Guptill leads New Zealand to a total of 359 runs from their one-day international innings against England.

Martin Guptill recorded his second one-day international century in as many matches as New Zealand set England a victory target of 360 at the Rose Bowl in Hampshire this afternoon.

The 26-year-old opened the batting for the touring Kiwis and was still present unbeaten on 189 when they had completed their allotted 50 overs for the loss of just three wickets.

Skipper Brendon McCullum won the toss and opted to bat first, but it was England who got off to a positive start when James Anderson knocked over Luke Ronchi's off-stump for two and with New Zealand 9-1.

That brought Kane Williamson to the crease and both he and Guptill made half-centuries before Graeme Swann's spinning delivery forced Williamson to play onto his own stumps, leaving the away side 132-2.

Next to go was Ross Taylor, but not before he had made 60 from just 54 balls. Anderson claimed his wicket as his attempted six was caught at square-leg by Chris Woakes.

That left captain McCullum and Guptill to see out the remaining eight overs and they did so with a string of boundaries.

McCullum finished on 40, while Guptil was 11 runs short of 200, as New Zealand reached their biggest ever total in this format of the game.
