Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie will reportedly meet with new director of cricket Andrew Strauss to discuss the vacant England job.
The 40-year-old has been heavily linked with the role after four impressive seasons at Headingley, where he has experience of working with some members of the England squad.
The Telegraph reports that Gillespie wants to have full control over team matters, and was not encouraged to see Strauss rule out an international return for Kevin Pietersen.
However, it is claimed that Strauss will assure him that he will have future control, and hopes that the former Australian bowler will want to work England assistant Paul Farbrace again.
Gillespie has also been linked with the India job.
