Joe Root has been awarded an England increment contract for 2012-13, after making his debut in all forms of cricket during the past 12 months.
The Yorkshire batsman has played in one Test match, one T20 and five ODIs, as well as one T20 and one ODI on the current tour of New Zealand, since the contract period started in October.
"Congratulations to Joe Root who made his international debut in all three formats in a short period of time, and has made important contributions for England so far this winter," said ECB National Selector, Geoff Miller.
Players who are not contracted can earn an increment contract on a points basis.
