Ben Stokes: 'Delhi like home game for England'

Ben Stokes claims that England's familiarity with Delhi could see them better unbeaten New Zealand in the World T20 semi-finals.

England all-rounder Ben Stokes is hoping that the team's familiarity with the Delhi pitch will be a boost in their World T20 semi-final against New Zealand.

Stokes's economical final over secured victory against Sri Lanka at the city's Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Saturday and a place in last four of the tournament.

However, the England star is hopeful that their third game at the venue will give his team the edge against the only unbeaten side left in the competition.

He told reporters: "This is our third game there so you could say it's like a home game, even though it's in India.

"We learned a lot from the Afghanistan game leading into Sri Lanka, knowing we're a little bit more used to the conditions, knowing it's quite hard to get yourself in on a wicket like Delhi.

"And also having the experience of bowling here. We know that hitting that back-of-a-length is quite difficult, because it's quite variable in bounce - some will skid through, others hold up. That's one thing we'll take into the game as well."

England last won the World T20 in 2010, when Kevin Pietersen inspired them to victory in the West Indies.
