Andrew Strauss refuses to rule out the possibility of Graeme Swann being left out of the England side to face South Africa in the second Test at Headingley.

England captain Andrew Strauss has hinted that Graeme Swann could be left out of the team for the second Test against South Africa, beginning tomorrow at Headingley.

Despite spinner Swann being seen as an integral part of the England side over the past few years, Strauss has refused to rule out the possibility of Steven Finn replacing the 33-year-old in a surprise move that would see the hosts operate with four pace bowlers.

Strauss said: "It is an option for us definitely, but as is always the case you want to have a look at the wicket on the day. If you go in with an all-seam attack you put all your eggs in one basket to a certain extent, but if you think the wicket is going to really help seam that is an option.

"Overhead conditions play a big part. You have to look into your crystal ball a little bit and get the balance of the side that you most think will win that game."

James Taylor is expected to make his debut by replacing Ravi Bopara at Headingley.
