Graeme Swann claims that Kevin Pietersen made a number of accusations about former colleagues in an attempt to sell more copies of his autobiography.

Graeme Swann has claimed that Kevin Pietersen made a number of accusations recently in an attempt to sell more copies of his autobiography.

The release of Pietersen's book coincided with a number of interviews in which the former England batsman criticised Matt Prior and Andy Flower, while also suggesting that there was a bullying culture inside the dressing room before he was sacked earlier this year.

However, Swann has once again defended his former colleagues by stating that attracting interest in his book was the real reason behind Pietersen's claims.

"You can't say what people will think but I don't think he has done himself any favours in the long run, but Kev has always been different," England's former spinner told reporters.

"It is all because someone is trying to sell a book. Honestly, in two weeks' time when the inevitable amount of interviews are done, no-one will give a monkey's.

"Certain things you have been led to believe didn't happen. I think the very fact that however many people have been interviewed, no-one is supporting these claims that Kev has come out with."

Swann has come out in defence of his retirement this week following criticism from Graham Gooch.
