James Taylor has admitted that he is excited to be leading England into a "fresh start" ahead of the one-day international against Ireland on Friday.
The Nottinghamshire batsman will captain a new-look side in the first limited-overs match since the disastrous World Cup campaign, and he is confident the debutants in the side can make an instant impact.
"We have to put the World Cup behind us," Taylor told BBC Sport. "It is a fresh start with plenty of new faces. It's an exciting and talented squad that I am lucky to lead.
"There will be plenty of guys making their debuts, so Ireland might feel confident. But we will give it a real good crack and I'm sure we will put in some really good performances."
Taylor, Steven Finn and Alex Hales are the only players remaining in the squad from the World Cup.
