James Taylor ready to return to England squad

James Taylor speaks to Sports Mole about his hopes of returning to the England team.

Nottinghamshire batsman James Taylor has insisted that he is ready to make an impact for England in any format.

Taylor has fallen down the pecking order in Test cricket since making two appearances in the summer of 2012, but he believes that a successful tour of Sri Lanka with the England Lions during the winter has boosted his chances of earning a recall.

Following a disappointing few months for England, the 24-year-old has told Sports Mole how an eye-catching double hundred against Sri Lanka 'A' in February has given him a boost ahead of the international summer.

"It's always nice to score runs anywhere, but to score them for the Lions - especially with places up for grabs in the Test team - was great. It's important that you do anything you can do and I think that I've done that again this year with those runs in the winter," Taylor revealed.

The former Leicestershire batsman has made just two appearances in one-day internationals, but he believes that his form in limited-overs cricket in recent seasons has proven that he can achieve success at international level.

"I don't want to be forgotten in any format. I'm confident that I can do a job in any format, and I believe that I have proven that over the years," he added.

"I'm definitely a lot better than I was a couple of years ago when I was playing international cricket. So, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that I get another go."

Taylor was speaking to Sports Mole at the launch of this season's Natwest T20 Blast competition.
