England fast bowler Chris Tremlett may be forced to have an operation in order to cure a back problem.
The Ashes winner had no choice but to withdraw from England's current Test series against Pakistan in Dubai with the back injury.
"Scans have revealed various issues with Chris's back - but we have to find out exactly what is causing the current problem," team physiotherapist Ben Langley told The Sun.
"He will see two specialists to get two opinions. The programme he followed after breaking down last summer has not worked, so he might have to go down the surgery route."
The 30-year-old has experienced a number of injury woes since making his Test debut against India in 2007.
