Jonathan Trott has revealed that he would "love" to captain the England side in the future.
The 31-year-old said that he has no designs on Andrew Strauss's position just yet and threw his support behind the under-fire skipper, stating that he is the "right man" for the job.
"I do feel I'm moving into the next phase of my career with England," said Trott. "Whenever we're in meetings and I feel I've got something to say I'll offer it. I think I have a good feel for the game and the other guys know that. They know where I'm coming from when I say stuff.
"If the right opportunity presented itself at the right time then I'd love to captain the side. I've always enjoyed captaincy and I like to have control over the game where I can.
"Let me make it clear though, the guys at the helm at the moment are doing a great job and are the right men in the right positions."
Trott has knocked over 2,000 runs in 27 Tests for England.
