England captain Alastair Cook reveals that Chris Woakes could be rested for the second Test against India.

England captain Alastair Cook has confirmed that Chris Woakes could be dropped for the second Test against India as selectors consider rotating the seamers.

Following England's first-Test draw in Rajkot, it was reported that Woakes had suffered a knee injury.

Speculation grew that James Anderson, who has been struggling with a shoulder injury since the summer, could come back into the fray after regaining full fitness.

Cook has not confirmed whether or not Woakes has picked up an injury, but he has revealed that changes to the team could be made for the showdown in Visakhapatnam.

"The way the 11 guys played in the last game was outstanding, so it's rotation policy or do you stick with what you've got? That's the decision we've got to make over the next 12 hours or so," Sky Sports News quotes Cook as saying.

"Chris is one we're looking at, with the amount of overs he has bowled over the last six weeks. He bowled outstandingly well in that last game, so we have to sit down after training and make a decision."

The second Test will get underway on Thursday.
