England beat Pakistan in a super over in Sharjah to claim a T20 series whitewash over Shahid Afridi's team.

England have claimed a 3-0 Twenty20 series whitewash against Pakistan by defeating Shahid Afridi's team in a super over in their clash in Sharjah.

The Three Lions set Pakistan 155 runs to win the contest after making 154-7 in their 20 overs following scores of 46 from James Vince and a well-made 37 from Chris Woakes late in the innings.

Eoin Morgan's men got off to an impressive start when Ahmed Shehzad was bowled by David Willey in the fifth ball of Pakistan's reply before Mohammad Hafeez was run out at the end of the over.

Willey claimed his second wicket of the innings by trapping Rafatullah Mohmand in front of his stumps for a golden duck to leave Afridi's men reeling at 11-3.

However, Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Rizwan began a revival by dragging their team to the 50-run mark in the ninth over, but Rizwan was then caught and bowled by Adil Rashid.

Umar Akmal made four runs from nine deliveries before he was caught by Chris Jordan off the bowling of Moeen Ali to leave the hosts in trouble on 66-5.

Malik took control of the innings, aided by his captain, to put the England attack to the sword to race over the 100-run mark and within striking distance of their total before Afridi was out for 29.

Pakistan were on the verge of victory in the final over, but Woakes removed Malik for 75 to leave the hosts needing two runs off the last ball to win the match. However, Sohail Tanvir and Anwar Ali could only scramble a bye, sending the contest to a super over.

The Three Lions selected Jordan to bowl despite his costly four-over spell in the innings as he faced off against Akmal and Afridi.

Jordan held the duo in check as they could only muster three runs, while Akmal was bowled off the final ball of the over, leaving England needing four to win.

Jos Buttler and Morgan knocked off the required runs with a ball to spare to secure the victory and complete a whitewash for the series.
